Driving standards update
Round 4 was a marked improvement compared to the first half of the season, thank you to everyone who is taking on board what we’ve been saying and responding appropriately. There wasn’t a single nose cone penalty in the Senior Max final, which must be a first.
We’re not done yet though and we will continue to push for clean, fair and safe racing.
Points deductions
2 further drivers have gathered enough penalties to be given a deduction of 10 championship points. 1 driver has earned a deduction of 20 points. They will be informed separately and asked to raise their standards. 23 drivers are 1 penalty away from a points deduction. You should know who you are and you’ll need to race very carefully for the remainder of the season.
Driver and team ban
As we have explained previously, we maintain a watchlist of drivers we are concerned about. One of those drivers was warned about his conduct on Saturday. On Sunday his driving remained overly aggressive. He caused further incidents, one of which was very serious and was subsequently banned from NKC indefinitely.
The driver operates a team at our events and when informed of his ban he displayed an attitude towards racing that we don’t accept. As a result we have decided that he cannot be allowed to run a team at NKC any longer. The rest of the drivers in the team are welcome to continue. We appreciate the impact this will have on them and are here to help should they wish to contact us.
Our focus on driving standards
This is incredibly important to us and we are fully focused on continually improving standards. Once again, we remind everyone that this is a hobby and these events are supposed to be enjoyable. Everyone around you in the paddock has spent a lot of time, money and effort to be there and deserves to have a good time. Please remember that when you are on track. The vast majority of drivers haven’t received a single driving standards penalty this season – don’t ruin it for them.
If we speak to you about your driving this is a sign that we have serious concerns about your ability to live up to our standards. The next step is to remove you from our events so everyone else can enjoy fair and safe racing. Already this year 3 drivers have been given some kind of ban and there are several close to a final warning.
